Things to do
We want you to make the most of your stay in Snowdonia whether that’s cramming an adventure into every action packed minute, escaping to the solitude the mountains can offer or just having a relaxing family holiday. Here are a few suggestions for you although there are many many more, keep an eye on our blog for real life experience of our team.
Snowdon
Whether you choose to walk up one if the 6 paths to the summit or get the train from Llanberis, Snowdon for many is THE reason they 1st visit Snowdonia. Of course, there are lots of other mountains and walks to do, which are less crowded and just and stunning in their views.
Beaches
We are a short drive from the stunning beaches of the Llyn Penisula and Anglesey. Some of our favourites are Black Rock Sands , which is dog friendly all year, Harlech and Newborough on Anglesey. If you fancy being ultra cool you could check out the 3rd best beach bar in the world, Ty Coch at Porth Dinllaean at 20 minute walk along the sandy beach to the pub serving great food and ales whilst sat on the beach.
Mountain Biking
Whether you choose to bring your own bike along or hire from Beddgelert Bikes there are numerous cycle paths and forest tracks to explore. Whether that’s in Beddgelert Forest or traffic-free cycling along over 50 miles of purpose built paths in Gwynedd. There is even a path from Bryn Dinas that is traffic free all the way to Beddgelert for an ice cream (or a pint).
Fancy something a bit more adventurous on your bike try 1085 Adventures and one of their den building or foraging afternoons by pedal power. The famous Coed y Brenin trails are just a 35 min drive away.
Seeing Stars
Little or no light pollution means that Snowdionia is one, of only 10 places in the world, that has the status of Dark Sky Reserve. You will be able to see the Milky Way, shooting stars, all the major constellations and nebulus on a clear night – sat just outside your accommodation. The aurora borealis is even visible in Wales at certain times !
Castles and Steam Railways
For a more sedate day out or maybe just to take in the history and culture North Wales has an abundance of both castle and steam trains. From Beddgelert you can get the Welsh Highland Steam Railway to Caernarfon Castle soaking up the atmosphere and stunning vista of Snowdon along the way. Steam Railways, we have many, they used to be known as the ‘Great Little Trains of Wales’ The Ffestiniog Railway will take you from Porthmadog to the Slate capital of the world in Blaeneau Ffestioniog, or trips around the lakes on the Llanberis Lake Railway or the Bala Lake Railway. For history the castles of Snowdonia are aplenty, in fact we name our Pods after them.
Adrenalin Junkies
We can cater for you too!! We are located between the 3 North Wales Zip World sites so whether it’s a zipping along the longest zip line in Europe, whizzing around the bends on the Fforest Coaster, bouncing on the Treetop or slate cavern nets or swinging on the skyride – they have loads to choose from.
Above ground not your thing then experience the ultimate underground experience near Betws y Coed or if you’re a water baby then Adventure Parc Snowdonia’s only inland surf lagoon is right up your street.
Places to Eat
Caffi Gwynant is AMAZING – a full Welsh breakfast or a homemade cake and a panad you will not be disappointed and just 300 metres from us! A must at least once during your stay.
Beddgelert is a village of 450 residents and has 4, yes 4 pubs along with a bistro, couple of cafes and pizza parlour / ice cream shop.
The Tannronnen Inn, The Prince Llewellyn , The Saracens Head and The Goat Hotel all serve food.
A bit further a field and the Cwellyn Arms in Rhyd Ddu or The Grapes in Maentwrog are a couple of our favourites.
